The rise of blockchain gaming

The blockchain gaming sector exploded after well-known titles like Axie Infinity became a huge success and made waves across the crypto industry. Since then, the economy for play-to-earn games has grown exponentially.

Indeed, in the first half of 2021, startups working in the blockchain gaming industry raised a total of $476 million, which translates to roughly 9% of the capital invested into gaming companies.

This investment is easily justifiable since blockchain-based gaming offers several advantages that stand out in the gaming industry.

First, gamers own and control their in-game items and can trade, auction, or transfer these assets freely.

Second, blockchain enables such assets to overcome the confines of their own game, becoming easily tradeable and transferable across the network.

Finally, blockchain gaming enables players to earn from playing for the first time ever. In fact, playing-to-earn has been a big trend in various Southeast Asian and Southern American countries.

As of now, there are roughly 10 million gamers within the P2E ecosystem. Interest in the sector is still surging as more and more users are onboarded into various blockchain games daily.

Crypto gaming’s growing pains

However, certain problems persist in the sector, limiting gamers and investors in their crypto ventures.

The first obstacle is that the current P2E gaming options are still limited. Crypto gaming lacks a multitude of different genres, gameplay mechanics, and polished graphics, as often seen in traditional gaming.

Even big titles like Axie Infinity and Sandbox Evolution have quite simple and niche gameplay that might not appeal to a broader audience.

Secondly, P2E games also have a pretty fragmented ecosystem. Currently, Axie Infinity is run on Ronin, and Sandbox Evolution sits on the Ethereum mainnet, whereas other popular titles like CryptoBlades is supported by Binance Smart Chain. This forces users to divide their assets among different chains and switch between them when playing crypto games, which is exceptionally inconvenient.

Other challenges include low income from unfavorable earning schemes — there’s currently no platform ensuring that professional gamers have access to titles they can make money from.

There’s also a crucial lack of developer support — both crypto-focused and traditional coders are still at a loss when developing and launching their games to the public. Lastly, crypto gamers still have limited influence over the gaming ecosystem — they don’t have a say when it comes to making decisions about the game’s direction or governance.

GamerHub Token (GHT)

The GHT token is a multifunctional (utility, governance) and multichain crypto token minted via smart contract by and for GamerHub. The GHT token is a fungible digital asset of fixed quantity issued on different blockchain networks. The GHT token is primarily deployed on the Ethereum blockchain and will be bridged on the Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, and potentially the Terra and Solana Blockchain.

The GHT token will be the major gaming currency used on the GamerHub.

NFT and In-game Marketplace Currency

GHT will be used to buy in-game assets, NFTs and so many other things on GamerHub. GHT will be the main token used to pay for fees that may occur as a result of users using other tokens that will be accepted by GamerHub.

GameFi and MetaFi

GHT will be used for staking, liquidity mining, and other Defi services. The GHT tokenomics was created to give room for the GHT token to be used also as staking rewards for users who either stake GHT or other tokens, participate in the GamerHub liquidity mining program and participate in other Defi services that may occur.

Access to Streaming Content

As an investor, Gamer, or a random user, holding GHT gives you access to certain exclusive streaming content that will be available on GamerHub for only GHT holders.

Access to Exclusive Games

As a crypto gamer or investor, holding the GHT token gives you access to certain exclusive games that were created for GamerHub users or certain games that project developers want available to only GHT holders.

Ecosystem Governance
